Divert the canal tow path on the Grand Union Canal to permit the construction of the entrance to the proposed Bedford to Milton Keynes canal to the north of the Childs Way bridges. The agreement to reroute the towpath will include new rights granted to the Canal & River Trust for the laying of the services. The Trustee of the Charity has been approached with a request to grant permit the construction of the new canal entrance with associated diversion of the rights of way from the Charity’s property. The existing towpath route shown by a broken blue line on the plan is proposed to be rerouted to follow the solid light blue and broken red lines. A. of land covered by water, comprising part of the bed of the Aire & Calder Navigation and/or the River Aire (together the Navigation) at c to the east of Thwaite Lane, Leeds LS10 1RN within the area shown edged RED on Plan LFAS-AC-P1 to this Notice to enable the Council to install, retain, maintain and replace a new movable weir in place of the previous Knostrop weir;

A Lease of rights for the use of a pedestrian and cycle route which crosses the Navigation by the bridge constructed above the new moveable weir at Knostrop, and then along the north bank of the Navigation (between Knostrop Flood Lock, to the north-east of Old Mill Lane, Leeds) before crossing the Navigation via the land referred to in 1C and the two modified existing bridges referred to in 1D above. The pedestrian and cycle route is shown coloured RED on Plan LFAS-AC-P3 to this Notice. This Lease of rights will include an obligation on the part of the Charity to dedicate that pedestrian and cycle route as restricted public highway if required by the Council.

3. A Lease of land covered by water, comprising part of the bed of the Navigation at Crown Point weir to the south of Crown Point Road, Leeds LS10 1RN within the area edged RED on Plan LFAS-AC-P2 to this Notice, to enable the Council to install, retain, maintain and replace a new movable weir in place of the previous Crown Point weir.
