National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port

Welcome to our National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, home to the nation's designated collection of waterways history.

Come and savour the peacefulness of being outdoors by the canal, absorb the history emanating from the Grade II listed buildings, and learn about the lives and work of the canal people as you stroll around this seven-acre site.

Please note: Visitors are advised that on-going roadworks between J9 & J11 on the M53 (until August  2024) may cause some delays, so please factor this into your journey time to the museum.

Things to see and do

The museum is a great place to meet friends and family for an exciting day out. Don't miss our audio trail, outdoor play area, and wildlife to spot. With your annual pass you can come back as many times as you like within a year.
