The Canal & River Trust looks after most of the canals and rivers in England and Wales. Explorers has been designed to help you discover them while having lots of FUN!
Our Education Volunteers lead inspiring visits to key waterside destinations across the UK, as well as in-school visits. 21 of our sites have been awarded the Quality Badge for Learning Outside the Classroom. All activities are linked to the national curriculum and are highly regarded by teachers.
To accompany our activities, we have a range of free learning resources available to download from our website. These include lesson plans, activity sheets and topic packs, enabling you to teach children about canals and rivers in the classroom. They cover many different areas of the curriculum, from Science to Art.
We are excited to announce the launch of our new Canal & River Challenge Badge, which we have created in partnership with Girlguiding Birmingham, There are six activities to complete in order to achieve the badge, all of which are canal and river themed. The badge is suitable for Rainbows, Brownies and Guides across the country.
Now is the perfect time to sign up, with long, light evenings ahead of us. What better place to enjoy the season than alongside a canal?
There are FREE lesson plans, competitions, activities and resources to use in the classroom and on visits to your local canal or river.
