We are so excited to reopen the visitor centre and grounds. We can’t wait to welcome you back, but we will look a little different for a while.

Thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times.

We're following government guidelines and are making some changes to make sure that everyone who visits, works and volunteers in and around our museums and attractions can enjoy their day safely.

On arrival, please park away from other cars and read the signs before entering to keep yourselves and others safe.

We hope we’ve answered all your questions but if there is anything else you would like to know before your visit, please do get in touch.

Do I need to book online before I visit?

A

It will not be necessary to book online before you visit however we are committed to ensuring that visitors are able to safely distance and this will be regularly reviewed, so please keep an eye on this page.

Is the boat lift open for boat trips?

A

We understand how much you would like to book on a boat trip on your visit but due to social distancing requirements we are unable to open the lift for boat trips yet. We are carefully monitoring this and will update the website with more information.

What safety measures have you put in place regarding Covid-19?

A

There is a signposted one-way route around site to follow to make sure you get the most out of your visit. You will see members of our team out and about who may ask you to wait a moment to ensure a suitable social distance is maintained. We have installed hand sanitising stations throughout the site to allow visitors to keep their hands clean and these are clearly signed.

Are you supporting the NHS Track and Trace Service?

A

We are supporting the NHS Track and Trace initiative and we will invite you to share your details with us to help control the spread of Coronavirus.

The data will be only made available to the NHS if an outbreak is identified on-site. This is in line with other organisations in the sector together with restaurants, bars and hotels. For more information please visit our Privacy Policy.

Will you be checking people’s temperature on arrival?

A

No, based on the current government guidance and advice, we won’t be checking peoples temperature.

Are the volunteers back?

 

Now we are looking at re-opening the centre, we are starting to phase our wonderful group of volunteers back to the team.

Will the toilets be open?

A

Yes, the toilets in the centre will be open. Unfortunately, the toilets in the grounds are out of use. Please take care when entering and exiting and follow the guidance displayed.

Will the café be open for food and drinks?

A

Our café will be open offering takeaway refreshments at first. Please keep an eye on our Facebook pages for updates.

Will the shop be open?

 

Yes, our gift shop will be open, but we would ask you to only touch the items you wish to purchase. You will notice perspex screens at our till points to help keep everyone safe.

Can I pay with cash?

A

We are happy to accept any type of payment, but we would prefer contactless card payments. You will see members of our team out and about who may ask you to wait a moment if there is another party exploring an exhibit or browsing in the shop.

Do I need to wear a face mask?

A

We would encourage you to wear a face covering when you are inside the visitor centre in the same way you would inside a shop. You may see some of our team wearing personal protective equipment to enhance our safety measures.

Can I use the interactives?

A

Yes, you can use the interactives, but we would ask you to sanitize your hands before and after use. You will find sanitizer stations across the site.

Will you be holding any events or activities during the summer holidays?

 

Unfortunately, due to social distancing requirements, we will not be organising any activities or events until we are able to do so. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for more updates.

I don’t feel ready to visit just yet. How can I engage online so I don’t feel like I’m missing out?

We will continue our digital offer. Keep in touch with us and read our stories on canalrivertrust.org.uk or on Facebook.

Will I be able to use the passenger lift inside the visitor centre?

A

Our lift will be available to those who need to use and we will display instructions prominently to ensure that visitors are aware of the safety measures to follow
