Get up close to the Anderton Boat Lift?
Experience the Anderton Boat Lift like never before with our award‑winning behind‑the‑scenes tour. Led by our incredible volunteer team, recently recognised for their outstanding work, this tour isn’t for the faint‑hearted. You’ll start in the visitor centre before venturing across the aqueduct, stepping into the rarely seen control room and finally onto the vast machine deck that crowns this amazing structure- with breath-taking views across the Cheshire landscape.
Important information for Walking the Lift Tours:Â
The tour takes place at the very top of the lift and is not suitable for visitors with a fear of heights. Please ensure you wear a full shoe with a closed toe and clothing appropriate for the weather. This is a walking tour and requires climbing steep steps. The minimum age for this tour is 16 years. Dogs are not permittedÂ
