Boat trips on the Edwin Clark

The best way to experience the lift is the climb aboard the Edwin Clark.

Edwin Clark on the River Weaver at the Anderton Boat Lift

Our boat trips along the River Weaver will return in spring 2025.

The Edwin Clark

Our hard-working, glass sided boat trip boat is 'The Edwin Clark', named after the engineer who designed and constructed this clever bit of Victorian machinery. It seats up to 56 passengers and will accommodate two wheelchairs.

Boat trips

Our 150-year-old lift is currently receiving some TLC so whilst (sadly) our visitors won’t be able to see it in action, you can still marvel at the ‘Cathedral of the Canals’ from a unique perspective on board the Edwin Clark trip boat as it transports you from the base of the lift and along the Weaver Navigation.

Trips last approximately one hour.

Running times

Our boat trips run most days at 10am, 11:15am, 1:30pm & 2:45pm.
