Children can come and discover Edwin Clark - the Victorian engineer who designed and built the Anderton Boat Lift. Hear the tales from the towpath and explore our industrial heritage in a whole new way.
While our awesome boat lift is the star of the show, it's not the only activity to get stuck into here at Anderton. It's ideal to:

You’ll find we’re right in the middle of loads of attractions from the North Wales and Peak District visitor areas. So, it's easy to include the Anderton Boat Lift into a full-day’s adventure.
Just minutes from the M56 and M6, the boat lift is an excellent place to stretch your legs, grab a tasty lunch with our new coffee shop menu and even get a bit of cheeky shopping in with a stop off in our gift shop.
Did we mention the spectacular view? Combine with exploring our exhibition, climb aboard our boat trip to experience that lifting feeling for yourselves. And we’d thoroughly recommend our ‘Top of the world Tour’ for that added twist to your time here.
