We love and care for your canals and rivers, because everyone deserves a place to escape.

LL200 Bicentenary Awards

To mark the 200th anniversary of the completion of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, the North West Waterway is launching a series of awards to recognise special people who have made a difference to our wonderful canals.

The 2016 awards will be presented at a glittering Bicentenary Gala Dinner at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Blackburn on Wednesday 19 October 2016.

The awards will be available in two categories:

1. Six special bicentenary awards - which will be applicable for work on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal only.

2. Two new prizes - which will be awarded annually, open to anyone with connections to any canals included within the North West Waterway.

We want to hear from you

Entries are encouraged from all sections of the community who can demonstrate they meet the criteria of the award(s) for which they wish to be considered. Whether you are part of a larger group who adopt a stretch of the canal or give your time to volunteering or archiving work.

How to enter

You can enter for as many awards as you wish, making clear how your entry qualifies by completing one entry form and emailing it to Sarah.Knight@canalrivertrust.org.uk no later than 4pm on Friday 12 August 2016. All entries must have taken place since 2012 when the Canal & River Trust was established.

There is also a handy guide to completing the entry form too so why wait? Entries are also accepted on behalf of someone else if you can evidence why they qualify (the Trust may seek permission before progressing any third party nominations).

Tickets for the Bicentenary Gala Dinner - October 19 2016 are £35. To purchase tickets please contact sarah.knight@canalrivertrust.org.uk.

These special awards will be presented alongside dinner, entertainment and music. Lucky finalists who are shortlisted will be invited to attend and each shortlisted entry allocated one free ticket. We expect the evening to be a sell out and places are limited so why wait?
