Boat trips on the Edwin Clark

The best way to experience the lift is the climb aboard the Edwin Clark.

Edwin Clark on the River Weaver at the Anderton Boat Lift

The Edwin Clark

Our hard-working, glass sided boat trip boat is 'The Edwin Clark', named after the engineer who designed and constructed this clever bit of Victorian machinery. It seats up to 56 passengers and will accommodate two wheelchairs.

Boat trips

Board the Edwin Clark trip boat, sit back and enjoy the unique experience of being transported 50 feet between two waterways on the world's oldest working boat lift. Listen to the informative and lively commentary and learn how the Cathedral of the Canals is a master of Victorian Engineering whilst also experiencing the scenic Weaver Navigation, once a busy commercial waterway which is now a haven for wildlife and a peaceful retreat for young and old to enjoy. Trips last approximately one hour.
