Let’s Walk Manchester: wellbeing and volunteering by water
Now more than ever the Rochdale Canal and Ashton Canal are great places to go for a walk in Manchester.

The towpath is a traffic free walking route that is fantastic for exercise, getting to work or school, or taking time out to relax.
We want to encourage people to try new ways to enjoy a walk on the towpath. We are launching our ‘Let’s walk: finding wellbeing in nature’ programme in 2021. This online programme is a great way to make the most of time outdoors and enjoy our urban waterways.
Walking groups in September
As part of our Let’s Walk Manchester programme we are running a series of wellbeing in nature walks along the Rochdale Canal with a trained Mindfulness Teacher throughout September 2021. Each walk will be an opportunity to get active on the canal in your area and try new ways to connect to nature and boost your wellbeing.
Our walks will take place on:
Active Volunteering
Our Active Volunteering sessions are also starting January 2021. These will be opportunities to active and improve the environment by helping us to care for the canals in our communities.
We have also created this resource pack full of ideas and activities help you get walking on the canals around Manchester.
This project is supported by funding from Greater Manchester Walking.
