Our first national youth engagement framework was launched in September 2017. The framework sets out our ambitions around this important area of growth for the organisation.
Young people represent a new and previously under engaged audience for the waterways yet they are the visitors, volunteers, supporters and workforce of the future. It is essential that we recognise both the value they can bring to us and the numerous opportunities the waterways can offer them.
The framework highlights 3 key themes for our youth engagement offer:
It also outlines a number of priority areas for development, to ensure we are able to deliver on our strategic aspirations to engage more children and young people across the waterways. These include building our capacity internally, developing local and national partnerships and raising our profile externally.
