Re-opening frequently asked questions

We are so excited to reopen the Visitor Centre and can’t wait to welcome you back, but we will look a little different for a while.

Trevor Basin visitor centre Trevor Basin visitor centre

We're following government guidelines and are making some changes to make sure that everyone who visits, works and volunteers in and around our museums and attractions can enjoy their day safely.

On arrival, please park away from other cars and ensure you pay and display as required.  Please read the signs before entering to keep yourselves and others safe.

We hope we’ve answered all your questions but if there is anything else you would like to know before your visit, please do get in touch.

Q Do I need to book online before I visit?
A

No, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Trevor Basin is free open site although access to the visitor centre will be limited.

Q What safety measures have you put in place regarding coronavirus?
A

There is a signposted one-way route around the visitor centre to follow to make sure that you get the most out of your visit. You will see members of our team out and about who may ask you to wait a moment if there is another party exploring an exhibit, to ensure a suitable social distance is maintained. We have installed a hand sanitising station by the entrance to the visitor centre, this is clearly signposted.

Q

Are you supporting the NHS Track and Trace Service?

A

We are supporting the NHS Track and Trace initiative and we will invite you to share your details with us to help control the spread of coronavirus.

The data will be only made available to the NHS if an outbreak is identified at the museum. This is in line with other organisations in the sector together with restaurants, bars and hotels.

Q Will you be checking people’s temperature before they enter the museum?
A No, based on the current government guidance and advice, we won’t be checking people's temperature.
Q

Are the volunteers back?

A

A limited number of volunteers are back on site and we hope to welcome more soon.  We can't wait to see them, we've missed them so much.

 Q

Are all parts of the visitor centre open?

A  All areas in the visitor centre are open, but some items have been put away for now.
Q Will the toilets be open?
 A

Yes, the toilets will be open. They are located in the blue badge holder small car park and are open daily.  Please take care when entering and exiting and follow the guidance displayed.

 Q

Will the shop be open?

 A

Yes, our gift shop will be open, but we would ask you to only touch the items you are going to purchase. You will notice perspex screens at our till points to help keep everyone safe.

Q  Can I pay with cash?
A  We are happy to accept any type of payment, but we would prefer contactless card payments. You will see members of our team in the shop who may ask you to wait a moment when browsing in the shop.
 Q

Do I need to wear a face mask?

A  You are not currently required to wear a face mask indoors in Wales, but you are welcome to wear one if you prefer. You may also see some of our team wearing personal protective equipment to enhance our safety measures.
 Q

Will you be holding any events or activities during the summer holidays?

 A

Due to social distancing requirements, we will not be organising any activities or events for the time being. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for future updates.

 Q

I don’t feel ready to visit just yet. How can I engage online so I don’t feel like I’m missing out?

 A

We will continue to update our website with new offerings for you to enjoy, including our virtual tours. You can also keep in touch with us and read our stories on Facebook.
