Access at Pontcysyllte Aqueduct

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Trevor Basin and our free visitor centre are fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Towpath

The towpath is flat and has a dropped curb access in the carpark that closest to the basin.

The towpath has been widened and resurfaced along 1,500 metres of towpath along the World Heritage Site between Horseshoe Falls and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, adding to the 16km of towpath already improved by the Glandŵr Cymru.

Access from Postles Bridge back onto the towpath has a new ramp from the bridge that meets current disability requirements, making the canal from Trevor Basin to Llangollen Wharf fully accessible to everyone.

Toilets

The toilets in the carpark also have fully accessible facilities.

Visitor centre

Trevor Basin Visitor Centre also provides a buddy service, this service is for visitors that are a little uncertain of crossing the aqueduct, whether it be ensuring access for wheelchairs while crossing aqueduct (although the towpath across the aqueduct is wide enough for wheelchairs there are no passing points for other users) or lending an arm to lean on if needed.

Please call us on 01978 822912 to book of this service.
