Re-opening Frequently Asked Questions

We are so excited to reopen the museum and can’t wait to welcome you back, but we will look a little different for a while.

Thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times.

We're following government guidelines and are making some changes to make sure that everyone who visits, works and volunteers in and around our museums and attractions can enjoy their day safely.

We hope we’ve answered all your questions but if there is anything else you would like to know before your visit, please do get in touch.

Q

Do I need to book online before I visit?

A

It isn't necessary to book online before you visit. However, this will regularly be reviewed as part of our commitment to make sure visitors can maintain a safe distance. So please keep an eye on this page to see if this changes before your visit.

Q

My annual pass expired during lockdown, will it be extended?

A

Yes, your annual pass will be extended accordingly. Please bring it with you on your next visit and discuss with the front of house team.

Q

What safety measures have you put in place regarding coronavirus?

A

There is a signposted one-way route around the site to follow to make sure that you get the most out of your visit. You will see members of our team out and about who may ask you to wait a moment if there is another party exploring an exhibit, to ensure a suitable social distance is maintained. We have installed hand sanitising stations throughout the museum, to allow visitors to keep their hands clean and these are clearly signed.

Q

Are you supporting the NHS Track and Trace Service?

A

We are supporting the NHS Track and Trace initiative and ask you to download the new NHS Test and Trace app before visiting and have your phone ready to scan the code on arrival. This will come into force on 24 September 2020. For our visitors without smartphones, there is an alternative way to record your details but to support the NHS, we would urge you to follow the app.

This is in line with other organisations in the sector together with restaurants, bars and hotels. For more information please visit our Privacy Policy.

Q

Will you be checking people’s temperature before they enter the museum?

A
