Do I need to book online?
It isn't necessary to book online before you visit. However, if you are visiting as part of a large group, we advise ringing ahead to check availability.
How do I get involved?
At the musuem we have a fantastic team of experienced and passionate volunteers who help us care for the site, deliver excellent visitor experience, lead guided tours, and even work with us to develop exhibitions. We are always recruiting new volunteers to join the team and invite you to find out more here, or by talking to a member of the team during your visit.
Are your toilets accessible?
Yes, we have accessible toilets on the ground floor.
Is the tea room open for food and drinks?
Yes, our lovely tea room offers sit-in and takeaway refreshments with seating available indoors and outdoors. We sell drinks, cakes and snacks only.
Can I pay with cash?
We are happy to accept any type of payment, but we would prefer contactless card payments.
Will you be holding any events or activities during the school holidays?
Yes we run regular activities and events in the museum and in Gloucester Docks. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for details of events or visit the 'Events' section of our website.
Are you running boat trips?
We are not currently able to run boat trips from the museum as our trip boat, The Queen Bodecia II, needs extensive repairs.
How much is there to see at the museum?
We reccomend at least one hour to see everything at the museum. We have two floors of exhibitions plus 4 historic vessels on the Quayside.
Is the museum suitable for children?
We always have a number of childrens trails on offer plus interactive exhibits and a small indoor play area.
