Frequently Asked Questions

We're following government Covid-19 guidelines and have made some changes to make sure that everyone who visits, works and volunteers in and around our museums and attractions can enjoy their day safely.

We hope we’ve answered all your questions but if there is anything else you would like to know before your visit, please do get in touch.

Q

Do I need to book online before I visit?

A

It isn't necessary to book online before you visit. However, if you are visiting as part of a large group or are interested in purchasing boat trip tickets for a number of people, we advise ringing ahead to check availability in line with the current Covid-19 capacity restrictions. Capacity is regularly reviewed as part of our commitment to make sure visitors can maintain a safe distance. So please keep an eye on this page to see if this changes before your visit.

Q

What safety measures have you put in place regarding coronavirus?

A

Masks are mandatory for all visitors (unless exempt) in line with Government guidelines. We have regular cleaning and sanitisation in place to keep everyone safe and you will see members of our team out and about who may ask you to wait a moment if there is another party exploring an exhibit, to ensure a suitable social distance is maintained. We have installed hand sanitising stations throughout the museum, to allow visitors to keep their hands clean and these are clearly signed.

Q

Are you supporting the NHS Track and Trace Service?

A

We are supporting the NHS Track and Trace initiative and visitors are able to download the NHS Test and Trace app before visiting in order to scan the code on arrival. For our visitors without smartphones, there is an alternative way to record your details but to support the NHS, we would urge you to follow the app.

This is in line with other organisations in the sector together with restaurants, bars and hotels. For more information please visit our Privacy Policy.

Q

Will you be checking people’s temperature before they enter the museum?

A

No, based on the current government guidance and advice, we won’t be checking people's temperature.
