Family fun and boats galore at the heart of Gloucester's historic docks.
Housed in a listed warehouse at the heart of Gloucester's Victorian Docks, Gloucester Waterways Museum tells the story of our wonderful canals and rivers. Climb aboard historic boats, enjoy hands-on fun, watch archive films and browse galleries rich in canal heritage.
Children of all ages will love getting their hands wet in our interactive canal lock exhibit and dressing up as waterways children as they explore the Museum.
Recently named by The Times newspaper as one of the best places to visit along the towpaths and waterways of Britain the Museum stages a number of special events throughout the year.
Gloucester Waterways Museum has been awarded a further £994,000 initial funding to develop a project celebrating Gloucester docks’ contribution to the nation. The revitalisation project, will see the museum change its displays to tell the story of the River Severn and the canals from Sharpness to Birmingham.
