Thanks to your donations, volunteers have planted traditional Welsh fruit trees along the Llangollen Canal and mooring basin.
Work started in spring 2013 to plant fruit trees along the Llangollen Canal, extending the community orchard through the English section of the World Heritage Site and on to Ellesmere.
With the money that you donated we were able to buy fruit trees, tree stakes and tree guards. This didn't just add colour to the landscape and enable local people to forage once again. It has also provided the local wildlife with a much-needed source of food.
We believe that everyone should have somewhere local to them where they can get away from the stresses of everyday life, get closer to nature and unwind. Thanks to this project people living around the Llangollen Canal have access to a truly special location where they can spot wildlife and relax in tranquil surroundings.
This project was an extension of an existing volunteer-led project within the Welsh section of the World Heritage Site.
