Claverton Pumping Station Volunteers Group

Claverton pumping station is a truly unique Grade I listed working waterwheel. The wheel powers a large beam engine that pumps 50 gallons of water every two seconds from the River Avon up 48 foot into the Kennet & Avon Canal. The pump operated from 1813 until 1952, remaining largely unaltered throughout its working life.

Claverton Pumping Station Trust always welcome people to come and help them. They are an all-volunteer charity and carry out a variety of tasks, activities extending beyond heritage engineering and giving tours, they have activities to excite people of all interests and backgrounds.
