Autumn Threads at the National Waterways Museum Gloucester
Visit the National Waterways Museum during October half-term to explore historic and seasonal crafts. Enjoy an activity sheet to help you explore the museum's thread-related collections, discovering stitching, quilting, traditional clothes and much more!
Join the Boaters’ Crafts Group for historic craft demonstrations on Saturday 25th October, 10.30-2pm. The rope machine will be in action and visitors will have the opprtunitiy to make their own spider web stiched pieces.
On Tuesday 28th and Thursday 30th October 2025, 10am-1pm there will be free sessions in the Museum cafe. You don't need to pay for Museum entry to take part in the craft sessions since the cafe is free to all.
There will be a variety of crafts on offer. Try out Pumpkin pom poms; leaf collage; rock painting; autumnal stained glass window pieces; autumnal wreath and twig rafts.

Cake and Cocoa with Claus at the National Waterways Museum Gloucester
Visit the National Waterways Museum Gloucester this December for a festive treat in the heart of the Gloucester Docks.
Join us on selected Saturdays in December for our special Cake and Cocoa with Claus events. Join Santa in the Claus cafe and share a selection of cakes and drinks with the man himself. Have a chat, get a photo and come away with a gift. A fantastic way to launch your Christmas season in the beautiful setting of the Gloucester Docks.
Your ticket includes a selection of cakes and drinks for all the family, a gift, a 30 minute gathering with Santa along with other families and free entry to the museum to enjoy drop-in Christmas craft activities. Visitors with an annual pass can get 10% off the ticket price.
