Join us at a 2023 Regional Celebration Event

We are offering around 16 fun celebration fishing events during the summer of 2023. It’s your opportunity to experience a day’s fishing and try out what you have learnt at Let’s Fish! in a comfortable environment alongside other new anglers from your local community. Let’s Fish! coaches will be on hand to support.

Starting out on your fishing journey

If you have never been fishing before, we would recommend first booking on to one of our popular Let's Fish! introductory sessions. You will be taught the basics of fishing at you own pace and can work towards earning your Let's Fish! gudgeon award.

After perhaps three or four sessions, you will be ready to take the next step, which is joining us at one of our 16 Regional Community Celebration events, being held as an introduction to fishing alongside others in a fun environment.

Regional Celebrations

The 16 regional events are listed below. All are free to attend, and you can take part in as many as you wish to.

It is important to note that you will need to have some of your own fishing equipment to be able to participate. Guidance around acquiring basic starter equipment is here. Some Let's Fish! clubs do have equipment that you can borrow. You can also apply for some free equipment as part of the Lets Fish accelerated development programme email [email protected] for more information.

Here is a useful instructional video on how to make the most of this occasion.

There are three age categories:

  • Cadet (7 to 10 years on the day) although 6-year-olds whose siblings are attending or who will be 7 by the 16 September 2022 may also attend.
  • Junior (11 to 15 years on the day)
  • Youth (16 to 20 years on the day)

National Celebration of Young People and Fishing

Following on from the Regional Celebrations, if you would like to take part in the largest fishing participation event for young people in the UK with around 350 other participants, then this event is just the thing you're looking for. It is ideal for anyone who has fished four or five times.

The format is very similar to our other celebration events, but with the opportunity for all to win fishing tackle prizes, vouchers, trophies, medals and, if you are really skilful, an iconic Fjuka gudgeon mug. The event will be held over two days on 16 and 17 September 2023 with the full details available here.

Daiwa Global Communities Celebration

Aimed primarily at those who have joined us at the National Celebration of Young People and Fishing, we will round off our year of Let's Fish! celebrations on Saturday 21 October with a gathering of around 200 participants on the Shropshire Union Canal.

We believe that teams are an important component in almost any sport). Consequently, we will be aiming to allocate each chosen participant a place in a team of three.

Those who are invited to be part of this event will receive a formal invitation via email in late September 2022. We are keen to hear from anyone who has a parent, grandparent or great-grandparent who was born overseas. Participants will need their own fishing equipment for this event.
