We are excited to offer keen young anglers the opportunity to take part in around 30 enjoyable fishing events celebrating the summer of 2025.
Celebrations are held from May through to the end of August 2025 with the added opportunity for winning regional teams to qualify for the Daiwa Let's Fish team final, to be held on Saturday April 18 2026 at Blythe Waters.
This is your chance to put your fishing skills learnt through our Let's Fish programme to the test in a relaxed setting with fellow angling beginners from your local community. Let’s Fish coaches will be on hand to support you on the day. You will need your own fishing equipment for these events.
Starting out on your fishing journey
If you have never been fishing before, we would recommend first booking on to one of our popular Let's Fish! introductory sessions. You will be taught the basics of fishing at you own pace and can work towards earning your Let's Fish certificate award
After perhaps three or four sessions, you will be ready to take the next step, which is joining us at one of our 30 Regional Community Celebration events, being held as an introduction to fishing opportunity alongside others in a fun environment.
Regional celebrations
The 30 regional events are listed below. All cost £5 to attend, plus Eventbrite booking fee, and you can take part in as many as you wish to.
It is important to note that you will need to have some of your own fishing equipment to be able to participate. Guidance around acquiring basic starter equipment is here. Some Let's Fish clubs do have equipment that you can borrow. You can also apply for some free or reduced cost equipment as part of the Let's Fish accelerated development programme email [email protected] for more information.
If your school is part of the Trust's Let’s Fish schools programme discounted fishing equipment may also be available to you. Your school PE teacher will have more information.
If you are aged between 13 and 16 inclusive, you also need to obtain your free rod licence before you go fishing. The full event rules can be found here.
How the Daiwa Let's Fish individual league works
Points are up for grabs at every Daiwa Let's Fish regional celebration event. Your top 6 scores count towards your overall point total in the Daiwa Let’s Fish individual National League. You can drop all your remaining scores. To give yourself the best possible chance it pays to take part in as many events as possible. The overall winner in each of the three age categories will receive a £500 voucher courtesy of sponsors Daiwa. The top 10 cadets and juniors and top three youth will also receive trophies.

How the Daiwa Lets Fish team league works
For 2025, the seven regions listed have been established with a minimum of three heats in each region.
East Midlands
North-West
South East & Anglia
South West
Staffordshire & Shropshire
West Midlands
Yorkshire & North East
The aggregate winning team on points in each age category will qualify for the final to be held on Saturday 18 April 2026 at Blythe Waters Blythe Waters. Any club, academy, school or other group can enter one or more regional league providing they have three available participants for each round.
A group can have a maximum squad size of seven and all can participate in each round with the top three points scorers counting on the day. A group can participate in as many regions as they wish but if they win their home region, they will represent that region at the final and if they also won another regional league the team that finished runner up would represent that region in the final instead.
If a regional event comprised of say six eligible teams, the winning team will be awarded 6 points the second team 5 points, etc. At the end of the regional series, the team with the highest points total will qualify for the final.
National Celebration of Young People and Fishing
Following on from the Regional Celebrations, if you would like to take part in the largest fishing participation event for young people in the UK with around 450 other participants, then this event is just the thing you're looking for. It is ideal for anyone who has fished four or five times.
The format is very similar to our other celebration events, but with the opportunity for all to win fishing tackle prizes, vouchers, trophies, medals and, if you are really skilful, an iconic Guru gudgeon mug. The event will be held over two days on 13 and 14 September 2025 with the full details available here.
Stories of young people who took part in previous national celebrations
Aimed primarily at those who have joined us at the National Celebration of Young People and Fishing, we will round off our year of Let's Fish! celebrations on Saturday 18 October with a gathering of around 270 participants on the Shropshire Union Canal.
We believe that teams are an important component in almost any sport). Consequently, we will be aiming to allocate each chosen participant a place in a team of three.
Those who are invited to be part of this event will receive a formal invitation via email in late September 2025. We are keen to hear from anyone who has a parent, grandparent or great-grandparent who was born overseas. Participants will need their own fishing equipment for this event.
