The charity making life better by water

Volunteer by water

Canals are a source of calm, connection and beauty, but they don’t look after themselves. They need your help.

As a charity, volunteers are essential to keeping canals, rivers and towpaths healthy and full of life. Whether it’s looking after lock gates and maintaining paths, planting for wildlife or helping communities recover after storm damage.

If you love your canal, want to make a difference in your community and learn new skills, we’d love to meet you.

What is a welcome session?

Welcome sessions provide an opportunity to find out more about volunteering with us. There are over 50 sessions to join, available in-person and online and are a chance to talk about what roles are on offer, meet your local team and discover what impact you could have on your community.
