The charity making life better by water

Community fundraising volunteer

You'll be supporting our fundraising team at a regional level, engaging with local communities and inspiring others to become volunteers.

  • What you'll be doing

With the support of your face-to-face (F2F) team, you'll become a local face for the Trust, working with local communities, schools, sports clubs and faith groups.

You'll help identify new fundraising opportunities locally, and form part of the F2F team and attend meetings and training sessions.

Receive the training you need to assist the local regional teams, and F2F fundraising teams, attend events within the region on an ad hoc basis.

You will help promote fundraising generally within the region and also inspire others to sign up to be volunteers.

    Example tasks may include:

    • assisting regional colleagues at one-off community led fundraising events
    • assist regional colleagues and F2F team at regional events such as winter works and open days
    • assist your F2F team and community development manager (CDM) and your fellow volunteers to create, plan and deliver events and activities with local community groups to raise funds and promote awareness of the Trust
    • develop links with local organisations and participate in fundraising opportunities
    • assist in the designing of marketing materials such as posters to promote events and campaigns
    • assist with ensuring events are run in line with the Trusts policies and procedures such as health & safety and child safeguarding
    • support and promote the use of contactless payments
  • The skills you need

The most important attributes are an ability to interact with and communicate well with others, a friendly manner and the ability to make a good first impression.

You will need a hands-on approach, a can-do attitude and the flexibility to work on your own or with others. It may be that you have an interest in the waterways and/or good local knowledge of the area, but they aren’t essential so long as you’re willing to learn more about both.

  • What's in it for you?

This is your chance to have a positive impact on your local waterway and community. Help local community groups and people realise the benefits of their local waterway.

Being by the water can make you happier and healthier, this role allows you to both increase your own wellbeing, as well as encouraging others to improve theirs by taking on a challenge by water or arranging their own community led event.
