Our boat trips are not operating at the moment. We're so sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience. We'll let you know as soon as the trips are back up and running.
Where once horses pulled buttys and barges on the Shropshire Union Canal, you can now explore by taking a canalside walk.
The grooves on the old Victorian Bridge worn down by the ropes of horses as they pulled narrow boats to and from Ellesmere Port docks.
Horses played an important role in the history of the waterways and for over 200 years canal boats were pulled by horses, and for much longer, the country depended on them for work.
From time to time we invite horsedrawn boats to travel along the canal to take you even further back in time...
