No trip to our marvellous museum would be complete without climbing aboard a narrowboat to explore just some of the Shropshire Union Canal.
Above is our boat 'Centaur'. Where once horses pulled buttys and barges on the Shropshire Union Canal, you can now explore aboard our 30 minute boat trip.
Your guide will tell tall tales and stories that bring to life the changing fortunes of the canal and its people. As time slows to the traditional 4mph, you'll travel through a fascinating industrial landscape criss-crossed with past and present transport systems.
And you don't have to visit the exhibitions to take a boat trip. Pop along just for the boat trip if you like. Although you may want to stop by our newly refurbished café and shop too.

The grooves on the old Victorian Bridge worn down by the ropes of horses as they pulled narrow boats to and from Ellesmere Port docks.
And from time to time we invite horsedrawn boats to travel along the canal to take you even further back in time...
