Let's Fish!

Want to learn to fish? We'll get you up and netting in no time! It’s a great way to relax and spend time in the fresh air with your family. Whether you've never fished before or are getting back into it, find out more about our award-winning, free Let's Fish! events below.

Fishing is fun, is good for your mind and body, and something the whole family can enjoy. You'll always remember the first time you caught a fish!

Each year between March and the end of October, the Trust, supported by local angling clubs, host hundreds of learn to fish taster events called Let's Fish! As the charity that helps local people to take advantage of the wellbeing benefits of being by water, we particularly look to host events in places where everyone, regardless of background or ability, can get the opportunity to enjoy a happier, healthier life.

Let's Fish! funding support

We couldn't provide our fantastic Let's Fish! events without funding. It's supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, Environment Agency, Angling Trust and other local groups such as Nenescape.

You can donate too. Your little bit of help can make a big difference to families and young people who need that valueable access to the wellbeing benefits being by the water can bring.

Support from local angling clubs and coaches

It's your local angling club that hosts your local Let's Fish! free learn to fish events. Not only can your whole family try fishing for free, at some events, there'll be Explorers activities and canoe taster sessions too.

Everything you need to enjoy a fishing session is free on the day, such as tackle, bait, a rod licence and your fishing permit as well as expert coaching from one of our licensed Level Two coaches.

Our award-winner events are really busy, so sign up to the event nearest you now.

Let's Fish! makes life better by water

We've heard some incredible stories from the families that have already visited a Let's Fish! event on their local canal. From helping people connect with others in the community to individual children and parents discovering the personal wellbeing benefits of just sitting by the rippling water.
