Distance: 9.3 miles

Cycle route

While just under ten miles in length there’s plenty to see along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, capturing both the town’s industrial heritage and the untouched countryside which surrounds it.

You’ll also cycle pass the Steven Burke Cycle & Sports Hub, named after the double Olympic gold medal cyclist who hails from nearby Colne.

Set off from Reedly Marina and cycle through Brierfield and Nelson. At the halfway point take the cycle path towards Pendle Heritage Centre, a great place to stop for a break. You can then retrace your route back to Reedly Marina.

Expect:

  • mallards
  • moorhens
  • plenty of old mills
