The charity making life better by water

Walsall community art

Walsall's local artists have come together to create a waterway masterpiece transforming a canalside route into a canalside beaut.

As part of our wider national street art trail, this project is aimed at improving less cared-for spaces alongside our waterways by bringing them to life with the help of local artists and community groups.

Supported by players of People's Postcode Lottery, the new piece of canal art was installed in the spring of 2021 by local artistic groups Maia Creatives and We are Culla.

Art is a wonderful way to bring colour to the canals and a chance for community groups to feel ownership of their local waterway.

The art will replace antisocial 'tagging' on the wall. We spend over £1 million a year clearing off graffiti tags and scribbles from across our canals.
