Foxton Canal Museum occupies the boiler house of the Inclined Plane Boat Lift. It tells the story of the lift, Foxton Locks and the associated waterways.
It is run by the Foxton Inclined Plane Trust and is a fully accredited museum. Outside is the wonderful 10 narrow lock staircase and the remains of the lift, all set in the best of Leicestershire's countryside. Inside we have working models of the lift, a 'play' boat, interactive displays and a wealth of interesting objects.
We have regularly changing temporary exhibitions, the latest of which is Nationalisation to National Charity.
Please note that Foxton Museum will be shut from Dec 1 2014 til the Spring 2015 for refurbishment.
