Unlocking the potential of London’s canals and rivers

This is our Prospectus to support good growth, prosperity and wellbeing across the Capital's canals, rivers and waterways.

The prospectus is intended to give a brief introduction to how the Trust’s waterways, the Trust’s work and the work of our partners on and near our canals and rivers support wellbeing in London. It supports the Mayor of London’s aspirations for ‘Good Growth’, London as a National Park City and Healthy Streets, among others.

It seeks to raise awareness of many of the great things that are happening on the waterways, such as education programmes, adoptions and cultural activities. It promotes opportunities for the waterways to do more, including better towpaths to improve connectivity across the city, more welcoming environments along the waterways and more use of the canals, rivers and docks to supply water, including for heating and cooling buildings.

It identifies a handful of selected key opportunities where there are particularly significant opportunities to maximise the wellbeing benefits of the waterways:

It invites public, private and voluntary sector organisations and individuals to work with us to achieve the potential of the waterways.
