Whether you're at your local canal enjoying a walk along the towpath, cruising the waters by boat, or simply taking a moment to sit and absorb your surroundings, the wonderful sights of spring and summer are often accompanied by the glorious chirruping, chirping and buzzing sounds of creatures great and small.

Tips to spot wildlife

There's an abundance of wildlife that calls our canals home. If you're keen to see as many species as possible, we encourage you to always:

  • view from afar
  • not to touch or interfere
  • observe quietly
  • be patient
