The charity making life better by water

Action to remove non-compliant boats from our waterways

The Trust have several processes to tackle licence evasion and non-compliance with terms and conditions. Our teams work hard to resolve licence issues with boaters, providing support and advice to help them stay licensed and compliant.

Sometimes, unfortunately, we're unable to resolve these issues and must remove the boat from the waterway. In some last-resorts cases, these boats are people's homes. In all cases where we remove a lived-aboard boat, we first approach the court to obtain an order and have our case scrutinised by a Judge.

Previously, we have displayed court orders on this website. We will shortly be publicising our enforcement action differently, to better reflect the overall work carried out by our teams. We have removed the court orders from this page in the interim period.

We look forward to sharing more details about our licence support and enforcement soon.
