We're to trial a set of new ‘long life’ lock gates on the Kennet & Avon Canal. Currently being installed at Picketsfield Lock near Hungerford in Berkshire, the innovative new gates are intended to bring efficiencies and long term environmental benefits.

The Manchester Water Safety Partnership is working with Nick Pope, whose son Charlie tragically drowned in March 2018, to support the Royal Life Saving Society UK’s Don’t Drink and Drown campaign, this year running from 2-8 December, which urges people not to walk home near water after they have been drinking.
Finsley Gate Wharf in Burnley, known locally as Mile Wharf, is about to undergo a £2.2m restoration with work starting to transform the heritage buildings on site into a range of community amenities, including a café, bar, function room, overnight accommodation and education facilities.

Eight year old Lottie Clarke who lives near Lock 14 on the Northampton Arm of the Grand Union Canal, has won a prestigious volunteer award to recognise her contribution in helping to clean up the canal.

Work to regenerate the historic Swansea Canal continues this month with a key element, the dredging of almost a mile of the waterway between Coed Gwilym Park in Clydach and Trebanos.
Together with Marsh Christian Trust, we are pleased to announce those recognised at this year’s volunteer awards which celebrate volunteer excellence along the nation’s waterways.

Standedge Tunnel & Visitor Centre is hosting a Volunteer Open Day on December 6 to encourage more people to get involved in improving and showcasing the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel in the UK.
We've started work to repair Lune Embankment on the Lancaster Canal, investing nearly £1.5 million refurbishing the 200-year old stretch of canal.
