The charity making life better by water

Family fun fishing events at Foxton Locks

We're inviting families to Foxton Locks in Leicestershire this summer to enjoy a relaxing day by the water at one of its popular Let’s Fish! events.

Adult and child fishing next to a canal in the rural countryside

Taking place at canals across the East Midlands, the UK’s biggest programme of angling events offers people of all ages the chance to try fishing for the first time – or pick it up again – with expert guidance in a safe and welcoming setting.

Let's Fish!

Let’s Fish! is a national programme supported by local angling clubs and made possible thanks to funds raised by players of the Postcode Lottery.

Foxton Locks is hosting a Let’s Fish! session on Saturday 5 September, giving people in Leicestershire the chance to discover the wellbeing benefits of spending time by the water. With all bait and equipment provided, participants aged six and over receive one-to-one coaching from qualified, licensed angling instructors.

Lets Fish! is part of a busy summer of activities at Foxton Locks, with families also having the opportunity to take part in guided wildlife walks, craft sessions, pond-dipping activities and specialist nature workshops.

A brilliant way to experience Foxton Locks

John Ellis, our head of fisheries & angling, said: “Fishing is a brilliant way to experience Foxton Locks and our Let’s Fish! events are the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill and maybe even catch your first fish.

“People of all ages can enjoy the outdoors, connect with nature and benefit from some of the wisdom of our experienced angling coaches

“Let’s Fish! is just one of many reasons to visit Foxton Locks this summer and, with sessions likely to be popular, it’s advisable to book your place early.”

For details of the Let’s Fish session, go to our Eventbrite page. To manage numbers on site, participants are required to book their place in advance, with tickets priced at £5.98.
