The event
The event, which takes place on June 29 and 30, will feature an amazing display of some of the UKs most desirable classic vehicles, from a Triumph Dolomite Sprint and 1949 Roadster to a 1955 James Cadet motorbike and 1995 Rolls Royce Spur.
TV celebrity Craig Hughes, star of ‘The Salvage Hunters’ and ‘The Restorers’, will be on site all weekend to pass on top tips about classic cars, antique restoration and upholstery hints. Visitors will be able to see his 1921 Royal Enfield motorbike and seek his views and advice at two Question and Answer sessions held each day at 12 noon and 3pm.
During the weekend, a wide range of extra activities will be on offer, including free guided tours around the historic canal site, working displays of the Power Hall steam engines and playing coin-operated games in the Vintage Arcade.
A fantastic opportunity
Event organiser, Power Hall volunteer Dave Trent explains: “Our Vintage Vehicle Weekend is a great opportunity to showcase the museum’s fascinating history while visitors enjoy looking at a stunning fleet of vintage and classic vehicles, and hearing about their restoration and upkeep.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting a record number of vehicles on site and are very grateful to all their passionate owners who are travelling long distances to be with us. We hope lots of visitors will join us to view these gorgeous cars and motorbikes for what promises to be a truly spectacular sight.”
In addition to this weekend festival, the National Waterways Museum is hosting a series of special themed Sunday events throughout the season, offering visitors an extra exciting, attraction on top of their museum visit. All these special days are included in museum’s annual pass or on offer as a day ticket.
Tickets
Adult tickets cost £12.95, with discounts for children, seniors and families. The museum is open six days a week (closed Monday) until 14 July, and then every day during the school summer holidays until 1 September.
