How to find us

The museum is on the canal towpath in the heart of Stoke Bruerne village.

By road: The museum is located south of Northampton, 10 minutes from the M1 (J15) and the A5. Brown signs are visible from the A508.

By rail and bus: The nearest train stations are Northampton and Milton Keynes.

There are new bus routes that will bring you to Stoke Bruerne from Northampton and Milton Keynes.The Stagecoach bus number 86 travels from Northampton to Stoke Bruerne every two hours Monday to Saturday, excluding public holidays.

On Sundays the X4 Stagecoach gold service runs two hourly between Northampton & Milton Keynes via Stoke Bruerne.

The bus stop is at the heart of the village, only a few minutes walk from the museum.

By boat: Moor between the top lock and the Blisworth Tunnel

By bicycle: We are a very bicycle-friendly museum and encourage people to visit us on two wheels by providing dedicated bicycle parking, free water refills in our cafe and puncture repair kits in our shop (we hope you won't need to buy one though!)

Visiting cyclists from Milton Keynes can travel via the canal towpath. Those visiting from other nearby towns and villages can take in the beautiful countryside as they travel down the quiet country lanes as they approach the museum.
