Catch of the Month Terms & Conditions

Read the terms and conditions for our Catch of the Month competition.

1. To enter

1.1 To enter this competition, an individual must comment with a photo on the catch of the month post on the Canal & River Trust Angling Facebook page.

Your entry can be submitted at any time from 24 August 2021 ('the Start Date') until 12 noon on 31 August 2021 ('the Closing Date'). Any comments on the post outside of these dates will not be counted as entries to the competition.

1.2 All information contained in the online entry forms part of these rules, save where that information contradicts these rules, in which case these rules shall prevail. It is a condition of entry that these rules are accepted as final and that each participant agrees to abide by these rules. Submission of an entry will be deemed to mean acceptance of these rules.

1.3 Entries through agents or third parties will be invalid.

2. Eligibility

This competition is open to all United Kingdom residents, except those who at any time between the Start Date and the End date (inclusive), are employees of Canal & River Trust ('the Promoter') or any of its subsidiaries, their families or those otherwise associated with organising this prize draw.

3. Validity

3.1 Participants are limited to submitting one entry online. No responsibility can be accepted for entries that have been deleted. Correspondence will be entered into only at the absolute discretion of the Promoter.

4. To win

4.1 Winning entries will be selected within 2 weeks after the Closing date. All valid and correct entries made between the Start Date and the End Date will be lodged as entries. One adult and one junior entry will be picked by the Canal & River Trust to win a prize.

4.2 Any entry of someone who looks to be over 18 (unless their age can be verified via their Facebook profile) will be considered as an adult entry, any entry of someone who looks under 18 will be considered a junior entry.

4.3 The Promoter's decision on all matters relating to the competition will be final.

5. The prize

5.1 The prize for Catch of the Month is a £10 gift voucher for Angling Direct each for the adult and junior winner. This can be used in any Angling Direct store or on their website www.anglingdirect.co.uk, there is no cash alternative available.

5.2 The prize for the Let's Fish Special is a 6 metre pole worth £70 AND 4 free entries to the National Celebration of Young People and Fishing, there is no cash alternative available.

(a) Entries for the Let's Fish Special should only be from those who would like to accept the 6 metre pole and intend of attending the National Celebration of Young People and Fishing. In the unlikely event that the Let's Fish Special winner be unable to attend the National Celebration of Young People and Fishing, the tickets will be offered to the runner up.

5.3 The Promoter will notify the prize winners via Facebook messenger within 7 days of the competition closing. The prize winners will then have 7 days in which to respond to the Promoter’s message confirming they have accepted the prize. The winner will need to provide their address in order for Angling Direct to post the gift voucher to them.

5.4 In the event that:

(a) a prize winner fails to inform the Promoter of their acceptance of the prize within 7 days of the Promoter’s message; or

(b) the Promoter is unable to get in contact with the winner; the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify the prize winner and select an alternative prize winner in accordance with Rule 4 above, save at a later date.

5.5 The Promoter is not responsible for any goods or services supplied under these prize draw rules.

5.6 Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prizes impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Promoter and accordingly the Promoter may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the competition, its rules or prizes and the participant agrees that no liability shall attach to the Promoter as a result thereof. In the event that a prize is unavailable for any reason, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value at any time.

6. Data privacy

Any personal data received during the competition will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Trust’s privacy policy. By entering the competition, the participant agrees that any personal data provided with the competition entry may be held and used only by the Promoter or its agents or suppliers to administer the competition.

7. The Promoter

The Promoter is Canal & River Trust, a charitable company limited by guarantee registered in England & Wales under the company number 7807276 and the registered charity number 1146792, whose registered office is at National Waterways Museum Ellesmere Port, South Pier Road, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, CH65 4FW (please do not send entries to this address).

8. General

Please retain a copy of these rules for your reference.

English law applies and the exclusive jurisdiction of English courts shall prevail.

The Canal & River Trust Catch of the Month promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook.

9. Acceptance

By entering the competition, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions.
