Sheffield & Tinsley Canal

Victoria Quays

Come and celebrate the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal's 200th birthday with us.

We will transform Victoria Quays into a festival of activity, entertainment and stalls. Also, for the first time, we welcome the Exchange Street Collective who will be hosting a free, open-door, inclusive daytime street party celebrating the revival of Exchange Street as a creative space.

In Victoria Quays there will be boat trips from 10am throughout the day and you can also try taster canoe or paddle boarding sessions. There will be a climbing wall, mobile caving, street performances, music and stalls from local businesses and charities.

Sheffield-based Honey Bee Blues Club will be curating the live music stage from 11am and the city’s very own Greentop Circus will be inviting visitors to try their hand at circus skills.  For a small fee pottery, spoon-bending and face-painting will also be available.

On Exchange Street, from 2pm until 10pm, get involved in a free community street party to celebrate the culture and diversity of Castlegate and the surrounding areas featuring live music and DJs, local food vendors, retail stalls, live art and spoken word poetry.

Canal Street Art Trail

As part of the 200th anniversary celebrations we'll be launching a new nationwide Canal Street Art Trail during the festival. The first year of the trail is supported by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. A series of bold, colourful commissioned artworks will be placed along the city’s waterway, and Sheffield-based street artists including the Concrete Canvas collective and Affix will be producing new commissions.

The Canal Street Art Trail will also include artworks created by local community groups working in collaboration with street artists.  Further details to be announced shortly.
