Our Supporter Promise
We are caring and open and aim to put our supporters at the heart of everything we do. This is our promise to you:
We will be honest and transparent about where your money goes
We will be clear about who we are, what we do and how your donations are spent. We promise that all money donated to us will go directly on our work protecting, restoring and enhancing our canals and rivers, or educating people about them. We are able to offer this unique promise thanks to the way that we are funded - our fundraising and administration costs are covered by our commercial income.

We will treat you with courtesy and respect
We will not pressure you to make a gift and will respect your decision if you don’t want to give, or decide to stop giving. We will only contact you in the ways that you would like us to and we will respect your privacy and personal preferences so that you are always in control of your support. All of our fundraisers follow our Fundraising & Adults in Vulnerable Circumstances Policy.

We will keep your personal information safe
We will only ask for personal details that are relevant and required. We strictly adhere to the General Data Protection Regulation (2018) and will ensure that the personal information you share with us will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and sensitivity.
We will occasionally ask external organisations to contact you on our behalf, for example a call centre. When we use external organisation to work for us we work closely with them to ensure they embrace the Trust’s values and adhere to the strict guidelines we set.
We will never sell your information to any other third parties or charities. We will only share data for marketing purposes if they are working directly on our behalf.
We will from time to time carry out customer analysis. This is to help us ensure we provide you with the most relevant information and the best service possible.
We will work to the highest fundraising standards
We are proud members of the Fundraising Regulator and the Institute of Fundraising and actively follow their codes of fundraising conduct. We aim to exceed these principles where possible.
