The Daw End Branch Canal is one of the most rural of the Birmingham Canal Navigations. It was built to carry limestone to Black Country furnaces; now its surroundings are peaceful and green.

What was once the limestone quarry is now Hayhead Heath Wood Nature Reserve, a leafy haven rich in plant life. In fact, Daw End's quiet waters have become one of the best places to fish in this part of the BCN.
The Daw End Branch Canal is pronounced locally as ‘Doe End'. It links the Rushall Canal to the Wyrley & Essington Canal.
