Community wellbeing activities, volunteering and workshop programme

Through the winter and spring months, we will be holding a range of wellbeing activities, workshops and volunteering events along the canal and in the parks and green spaces.

Let's Walk - Havelock Canal Walk – 11.30am – 12.30pm every Wednesday

Join our volunteer walk leader on a weekly walk (or you can just come once) for a canalside walk from Havelock Estate along the Grand Union Canal and past part of the Hanwell Flight of Locks to Glade Lane Canalside Park and back.

Mindful Movement for Women 10.30 – 12pm Every Monday in November

Weekly mindful movement classes. Utilising breath, imagery and movement to connect with self and others. No experience needed. No need to book just turn up at Open Havelock, Willowbrook South, 82A Willowbrook Road, Southall, UB2 4RH what3words///sings.opera.each. Run by Our Moving Stories.

Canalside Foraging Walking Workshop 1.00 - 3.00pm Saturday 18 November

Join our Kitchen Buddy Nutritional Therapist on a canalside walk to identify and highlight the culinary and medicinal uses of tree leaves, blossoms, petals, roots, berries and fruits with Q & A discussions and also some tasting. Full details and register here.

Let's Litter Pick Southall 10am – 1pm Saturday 25 November

A monthly canalside litter pick. Come and meet other local volunteers and spend sometime outside improving the environment for people and wildlife. All equipment provided and all ages welcome (children must be accompanied by a responsible adult). Full details and register here.

Let's Create a Canalside Community Garden

We are looking for volunteers to help us build, plant and maintain a community canalside garden at Norwood Bottom Lock (Lock 91) near Glade Lane Canalside Park.

Free Outdoor Play Sessions - 2-5pm every Saturday

Free outdoor play sessions run by Westplay in the Secret Garden @ Open Havelock, Willowbrook North, 7a Willowbrook Road, UB2 4RQ. Parents must remain in attendance with their children at all times during the sessions. Info here.

Let's Go Southall Activity Sessions – daily activities!

Join the Active Communities Team in activities including yoga, knitting, Giddha, gentle exercises, football, cardio, walks, park run, park play, family activities, basketball and much more. Full details here on Let's Go Southall's What's On Page

Keep an eye on this page for new activities which will include hedge and bulb planting, boat trips, bird and bat box making, vegetation cut back and much more.

Workshops were held on-site focusing on the specific project locations at Southall Recreation Ground, Norwood Top Lock & Glade Lane Canalside Park, Havelock Road Canalside Park, Spikes Bridge Park and Bankside, with an online workshop and in-person workshop at Havelock Family Centre.

Your feedback has helped develop the designs for these spaces further and there will be further opportunities to shape the details as above.
