Macclesfield Canal Society: Poynton
Poynton Adoption Group (PAG) has adopted from Bridge 11 to Bridge 17 in Poynton, along the Macclesfield Canal.
This was the third adoption agreement for the society with is supported by all the society’s member. Many locals in the area are members of this group.
Biggest achievement to date
Recent activities have included:
- the laying of new gravel on what was a very muddy towpath around Br 15-16. Recently we cleared the overflow weir near br 17 which the Canal & River Trust were keen to see carried out.
- Repainting Br 16
- Regular litter picking, vegetation clearance and painting (br 15 was done this year) activities undertaken by this group
Would you recommend this to others?
- Many of the members in this group are local to Poynton who are keen to give something back to their local community
Thinking of volunteering?
Our group is well supported but we are always interested in new team members, please notify the local leads Piers Lambert [email protected] or Steve Sheldon ([email protected]) if you are joining us and so we know we have enough tea and cake too.
Meet at Bridge 15 every third Wednesday at 10am. Find out more here: https://macclesfieldcanal.org.uk/calendar
