We understand that it's not always possible to visit the canal when you want to. That's why we've put together a virtual walk in Caughall, Chester so you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the canal from the comfort of home.

This walk has been put together as part of our Active Waterways Cheshire programme.

The route

While you're welcome to enjoy the route virtually, you can also experience it in person.

Parking: at Chester Zoo car parking or Upton (the Zoo) park & ride (nearest postcode CH2 4BB)

Start point: access towpath at Caughall Road (bridge 134), turn left onto towpath (heading towards Chester)

End point: at Backford Bridge, where A41 dual carriageway crosses Shropshire Union (bridge 133)

Waterway: Shropshire Union Canal

Length of walk 0.8 miles (approx)
