The charity making life better by water

Tardebigge Wharf Guided Local History Walk

Starts: 19 September 2026

Ends: 20 September 2026

9:30am-4:30pm

St Bartholomews Church Car Park. Church Lane (Off High House Lane). B60 3AH.

Volunteer guides will take you along the current wharf and sites of past quays, quarries, rail tracks, lime kilns and boat lift.

Volunteer guides will provide a snapshot of canal building endeavours and explain the aims of water management from the summit of the longest narrow lock flight in Britain.

The story of the Wharf and the surrounding landscape is placed into context visiting the current wharf and sites of past quays, quarries, rail tracks, lime kilns and the site of the experimental boat lift, which today is replaced with a double depth lock. Last year it was the site of a major repair and conservation project.
