The charity making life better by water

Canal Town Summer Sundays

Starts: 26 July 2026

Ends: 26 July 2026

10am-4pm

National Waterways Museum South Pier Road Ellesmere Port Cheshire CH65 4FW

Step back in time every Summer Sunday at our special ‘Living Museum’ events and experience what it was like to live and work in the docks when Ellesmere Port was a canal town.

Enjoy a tour of our stunning 7-acre site with one of our costumed guides, then pause to watch one of the lock or Power Hall engine demos taking place throughout the day. Our canal-themed summer events include Horse Boating, Organ Grinders, Canal Music & Art, Gifford’s Centenary and Porter’s Row’s 40th anniversary. Follow us on social media for all the latest updates.

The National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port in Cheshire is home to the nation's designated waterways collection and archive.

Visit us during our golden anniversary year, as we celebrate 50 years of protecting and preserving canal heritage.
