Celebrating the historic narrowboat Mendip and how canals helped transport chocolate to the nation.

Join us for a tasty Chocolate Day on Sunday 5 July when we'll be celebrating all things chocolate and the role the historic narrowboat Mendip played in bringing chocolate crumb to the nation.

  • Follow our children's trail to earn chocolatey treats
  • Watch lock demos with our star of the day: Mendip
  • Enjoy themed story times (12:30 and 2:30pm)
  • Paper crafts and chocolate wrapper design activities
  • Indulge in a chocolate fountain (servings between 12-2pm)

To coincide with World Chocolate Day (7 July), the museum is hosting this event in honour of Mendip; the historic narrowboat that Charlie ‘Chocolate’ Atkins used to transport chocolate crumb between the Cadbury factories at Knighton and Bournville.
