Welcome to Canal & River Explorers Workshops!

  • Event Lead: Sarah Bicknell
  • Age: 5+
  • Capacity: Open drop-in

Explorers is the Canal & River Trust’s learning programme aimed at 5-12 year olds, designed to inspire learning by connecting young people to canals and rivers and helping everyone to stay safe around water.

All our workshops are interactive and fun, learning important and useful information in a relaxed atmosphere.

  • Let’s stay SAFE together - Water Safety Workshop (30 minutes)

Learning to stay safe on and around water is important for every young person. We deliver clear and consistent messages through our workshop, teaching children how to spot hazards and how to help if someone falls into a canal or river. This will be a rolling drop-in activity.

  • Load the Boat (30 minutes)

This fun workshop will help children develop a clearer understanding of the factors affecting whether something sinks or floats. Children take the challenge of loading a model boat with cargo, trying not to sink it! It’s a great activity for the whole family, especially if you have a competitive side.
