200 year old Ammonite found

This ammonite was found in the chamber of lock 14 on the Grantham Canal by Grantham Canal Society volunteers during the ongoing restoration works as part of the HLF funded project.

It has been preserved in a calcite nodule and is most likely from the Blue Lias geological formation which is from the Jurassic period. It is roughly 200 million years old.
