Some anglers start young and carry on fishing for a lifetime. Others, for many and varied reasons, have periods of their life when they lose the fishing habit. With further change in circumstances, many lapsed anglers do return, for fishing is great for the health and wellbeing of the young and the more mature among us alike. A well-known name from the past have recently got back into fishing is Coventry legend, Pat O’Connor. This is his story.
Anderton Boat Lift, Cheshire’s historic ‘Cathedral of Canals’ in Northwich, will be hosting two major public weekend events in May – a Steam Festival (7 and 8 May) and a 10K Run (Sunday 15 May).
The first mass paddleboard through Anderton Boat Lift will be one of the highlights of a public celebration event to mark the 20th anniversary of the major restoration of Cheshire’s historic Cathedral of Canals in Northwich.
From the Shropshire Union Canal through the rolling Cheshire Plains to the Trent & Mersey Canal, the Staffordshire & Worcester Canal and back to the 'Shroppie', the Four Counties Ring is one of the more rural cruising rings and is best savoured slowly.
