We have been advised of a fallen tree falling from the offside blocking navigation and towpath on the Grand Union, South of Lock 27
We will update this notice once we have further information.
Please be advised the towpath and navigation is closed between Bridge 28, Thornsett Road Bridge and the Access Point on the Peak Forest canal due to a windblown tree. Contractors have been informed and we anticipate they will be on site later this afternoon to remove the obstruction.
Sylvatrees Ltd will be felling a dangerous Ash tree on the offside of the canal for a private resident. A banksman will be present on the towpath over the duration of the works to safely assist towpath customers & navigational customers past the works.
Please be advised third-party contractors will be onsite to remove the scaffolding access platforms from Yew Tree Footbridge to Bridge 15, Copperus Lane Swing Bridge on the Ashton Canal to a third-party building development. Whilst both the towpath and navigation will remain open, we politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and listen to any advice that may be given by the contractors on site.
Please be advised that a tree has fallen within the navigation 100m south of bridge 183A (A40) on the Grand Union Canal and may not be visible due to its location below the waterline. Our contractors have been notified, and this tree will be removed as soon as possible.
Please be advised a tree has fallen across the navigation between Stamp End Lock 1 and Gas Pipe Bridge 8A, partially blocking the navigation. Please proceed with care.
Time travel along the towpath - discover the awesome Georgian engineering that is the Caen Hill Lock Flight. Then leave history behind and step off the grassy path into the future - our new wood that will grow and mature over the coming years.
There is an overhanging large branch just upstream of Bridge 7, Copley Lane from the offside of the navigation. Please approach the area with caution.
A large tree has fallen across the Rochdale Canal close to bridge 2 blocking the navigation and towpath. Our contractors have been called and an update will be provided when the tree has been removed.
